Let me guess: you are looking for a rental property in Madrid and you don’t know which real estate portals to use. You doubt wether you should search in several or if it’s worthy to use only one even at the risk of missing a good opportunity. Today we are going to clear up these questions and help you find the house that best suits your needs and that is being marketed right now.
The most used portal is Idealista. In addition, you can also use Fotocasa and Vibbo. Idealista has more than twice as many ads in the province of Madrid as Fotocasa and Vibbo a few less than the latter. There are others but with these 3 you can be sure to cover all the published offer.
We recommend starting the search with Idealista. Once you have reviewed idealista, you can continue with Fotocasa. You may find a home that is not in Idealista but most of them will be repeated. It’s worth it to make sure you don’t lose any options. Leave Vibbo for when you already have the options that interest you most and before you visit them. Sometimes you can find the owner here and save the real estate agent’s fees.
Common tips to all portals:
- Register in the portals as soon as possible. You will be able to save your “favorite” ads and your “searches”.
- Perform a wide-ranging search from the start: just mark out the price range and the minimum number of bedrooms.
- Browse ALL the ads that appear in your search and bookmark your favorites. Once you have reviewed all the ads on Idealista and Fotocasa, you will receive the new ads that are published and meet the requirements that you’ve saved in your “search”.
- Look closely at the photos, carefully read the content of the description and the features and pay attention to what is NOT written. Advertisers always include the features that make the property more attractive to potential tenants. But they don’t usually include those that cause the opposite effect.
Keep in mind that in the portals:
- It’s very common to find the same property advertised several times on the same portal (by different real estate agencies and by the owner) and also on different portals.
- Houses advertised by real estate agencies generally do not indicate the exact address.
- You’ll see that many real estate agencies publish and cancel an ad several times, they use it to make it more visible: when you make these changes, it will be forwarded to everyone who has saved it as a favorite.
