This beach is not placed physically in Madrid. But it\u2019s fixed in most \u201cmadrile\u00f1os\u201d minds.<\/p>\n<p>July and August are the months in which most people in Madrid enjoy their summer holidays. The city also prepares for the season and reflects it in its own way: on the one hand, the rhythm relaxes, the traffic improves because there are no schools and because many \u201cmadrile\u00f1os\u201d exit, on the other hand, the beach and summer decor invite us to set our mood.\u00a0<br \/>\u2014It\u2019s a time to be on the move, of comings and goings \u2014says Paloma, excited.<br \/>\u2014Yeah! Some people is preparing the trip \u2014adds Almudena, thinking about whether she\u2019ll finally be able to leave the city for a few days.<br \/>\u2014And some just arrived and enjoy telling their experience.<br \/>\u2014That\u2019s how we discovered the paradox of summer in Madrid: everyone wants to spend as much time out of the city as possible but, at the same time, they love the peaceful city in August.<br \/>\u2014Hence the saying \u201cMadrid in August, Baden-Baden\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to those who leave the city, there are those who move during these months to \u201cla sierra\u201d (towns and condos on the outskirts of Madrid with a much more pleasant climate). Some conmute to Madrid every day, while others only spend the weekends up there.<br \/>But how do those who stay in Madrid spend their free time in the summer?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They go to the terraces. Just Google \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.es\/madrid\/es\/que-hacer\/las-terrazas-mas-espectaculares-madrid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Terrazas Madrid 2022<\/a>\u201d and you\u2019ll get thousands of results. They\u2019re a summer classic.<br \/>\u2014There are all kind of terraces \u2014explains Palo.<br \/>\u2014Terraces in restaurants: street, \u201dindoor\u201d garden terraces or in rooftops overlooking the skyline \u2014the exhaustive list of Almu begins.<br \/>\u2014In bars and pubs, some are open all year round and others are open specifically for the summer.<br \/>\u2014Even the museums offer their own.<br \/>\u2014It\u2019s the ideal place to catch up with friends you haven\u2019t been able to see during the year.<\/p>\n<p>They also go to the pool. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.madrid.es\/portales\/munimadrid\/es\/Inicio\/Cultura-ocio-y-deporte\/Deportes\/Actividades-y-eventos\/Piscinas-de-Verano-2022\/?vgnextfmt=default&amp;vgnextoid=53bbee650979f710VgnVCM2000001f4a900aRCRD&amp;vgnextchannel=3f77efff228fe410VgnVCM2000000c205a0aRCRD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Municipal swimming pools<\/a> are open to the public from mid-May to mid-September. Other pools are those of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esmadrid.com\/en\/sports\/instalacion-deportiva-canal-de-isabel-ii\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Canal de Isabel II<\/a>, in the heart of Chamber\u00ed, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esmadrid.com\/en\/sports\/real-canoe-swimming-club\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Real Canoe Swimming Club<\/a> (in the Retiro area). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esmadrid.com\/en\/sports\/parque-deportivo-puerta-de-hierro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Puerta de Hierro<\/a> (located on the west exit of Madrid towards the A-6 and El Pardo). We can\u2019t forget <a href=\"https:\/\/www.madrid.es\/portales\/munimadrid\/es\/Inicio\/Vivienda-y-urbanismo\/Urbanismo\/Madrid-Rio-Especial-Informativo\/?vgnextfmt=default&amp;vgnextoid=5acc7f0917afc110VgnVCM2000000c205a0aRCRD&amp;vgnextchannel=2af331d3b28fe410VgnVCM1000000b205a0aRCRD&amp;idCapitulo=5952750\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Playa Madrid Rio<\/a>, which although not a place to swim, it does help to relieve the heat of summer. And, of course, there are numerous private swimming pools in hotels or clubs with public access.<br \/>\u2014Also, on a different, more cultural plan, there is \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.esmadrid.com\/agenda\/veranos-de-la-villa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Los veranos de la Villa<\/a>\u201d. It\u2019s organized by the Madrid City Council with musical activities, theatre, dance, etc. Apparently, this year won\u2019t start until August.<br \/>\u2014In addition, almost all the cultural and leisure spaces have a summer offer.<br \/>\u2014Like \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.madrid.es\/portales\/munimadrid\/es\/Inicio\/Cultura-ocio-y-deporte\/Cultura-y-ocio\/Actividades-de-la-Banda-Sinfonica?vgnextfmt=default&amp;vgnextoid=b083df0cbc3af310VgnVCM2000000c205a0aRCRD&amp;vgnextchannel=c937f073808fe410VgnVCM2000000c205a0aRCRD&amp;rm=9ef11d370482b010VgnVCM100000d90ca8c0RCRD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bandas al fresco<\/a>\u201d at Retiro Park (Concerts by the Madrid Symphony Orchestra).<br \/>\u2014And \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dodmagazine.es\/cines-verano-madrid-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cines de Verano<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Surprisingly, and to conclude, our favorite \u201cactivity\u201d is to talk about heat. That it gets hot, is a fact. Especially during \u201cheat waves\u201d, days when it\u2019s better not to step on the street at the risk of melting and becoming part of the Madrid asphalt and, above all, nights when surviving without A\/A is difficult.
